Gerringong Sporting Personalities
Ashton Sims
Another of Gerringong's top Rugby League footballers, Ashton played his junior football with the
Gerringong Lions.
Receiving recognition at an early age, he represented his State as an U/17 State of
Origin player in 2001/2. He achieved national junior honours with the Australian
Schoolboys Team, 2002.
His biggest disappointment to date was his team's loss in the 2002 Jersey Flegg Grand
Final.
In 2003 Ashton started with the St George Illawarra Dragons as a front /second rower and is still with the
club at this time. Ashton scored his first NRL try in the 67th minute of the match against Wests
Tigers at Telstra Stadium on Sunday 11th April, 2004.
Update: Ashton Sims has signed a three-year deal to join Brisbane Broncos from next
year (2008).
