Patricia (Patsy) Fayne (nee May)
Patsy's cricketing skills were developed in the backyard, encouraged by her
brother, David. She played her first competition game for Sydney University in 1965 at age 18.
As a cricketer, Patsy specialised in medium paced swing bowling, representing
NSW for 11 years (1966-1976) and Australia for 9 years (1968-1976).
During her career she played in six Test Series touring England, New Zealand
and the West Indies. She also played in the 1973 World Cup in England. This was
the first World Cup staged for either men or women.
In 1976, during the first Women's cricket game ever to be played at Lords, it
was Patsy who gained the distinction of being the first Australian lady to
capture a wicket at that ground.
Patsy is a double Blue from Sydney University in cricket and softball.
Now retired, she resides at Gerroa with her husband, Michael.
